about PS all the time!

A Christmasy Freebie

As it is 10 days to Christmas, I did a Christmasy greeting for you.
Here most people don't celebrate this Holiday, but in places like
Bethlehem there is a midnight mass, which must be very exiting and
it is always televised.

This greeting can look nice with green leaves and red berries.

A Freebie For You

It is a time for a freebie - as I cannot draw this is the type of
digi that I can do - learning PS on the way!  So many crafters
are kind enough to give out freebie digis and I want to give
something too.  There are more on the way!
All comments welcome.

My Kids Birthday Cards

Next week my three children have their birthdays on
the same day and so I have had to prepare 3 birthday
cards for them.  Usually I make all the cards using
the same subject - and this time it is retro fashion.
I have decoupaged each one just a little, the background
is from a Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder and the
shapes made using Spellbinders nestabilities.

Dryer Sheet Method

Here is a card using the dryer sheet method, which
is very easy to do.  Here is a link to a video of how
to use this method  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1JUgGHL118

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
This card has been entered to the Anything But Cute Challenge #28

Using Posters

A good way to find pictures is to look for posters and to use
them in your card making. You can find posters on just
about any subject you can think of.  Here are two examples
of cards using posters

Keep watching this post!  I am working on it and hope to
give a lot more ideas on card making.  Also working on
freebies - but as I can't draw they will be greetings for cards.

Cupcake Card

Today I played around with a digi by Lisa Larsen and made
a card using her cupcake digi.  It looks slightly out of shape
and that's because when I decided to put glitter in the
middle of the yellow flower I put the glue on and instead
of glitter used embossing powder -   I will try to put a heavy
book on it to straighten the card up!

Using Oriental Paper

I have just been given paper from someone who has just
come back from Japan, and as I already had some which
one of my daughters bought me, was wondering which was
the best way to use the papers. I decided to look up how to
make an origami kimono.  Following is the kimono which I
made, and which, by the way, was very easy to make.

I also have a disk called "Oriental Origins" by Cupcake Crafting
and made a card using one of the flowers from the disk. This
flower also has its own backgrounds, but I wanted to make
use of paper I already had.  I have used Nestabilities for the
shaping and Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
I did a little decoupage on the flower.

A Fun Way with Portraits

Here is a fun project using photos of family or friends.
I wanted something different for one of my granddaughters
when she reached the age of 9 and this is what I came up
with.

Stamping

Here is a sample of a card I made using a rubber
stamp. First of all I stamped a piece of white paper
with butterflies, stuck it onto a red card and then added
some embellishment - ribbon and flowers.  This is a
simple way of making a card that isn't too fussy.

Using Photographs on your Cards

Do you enjoy taking photographs?  If so, why not use
them on your cards.  I like to take photos of flowers
and following is a card with a photo I took in my
daughter's garden.  This is just one idea - I am
sure that you all have more ideas.

Using Fimo

I don't often take out my fimo and all the tools associated with using
fimo, but here is an idea of how to use fimo to embellish cards. I
used a mold, but you can use other methods too, such as dough cutters.
Don't forget, anything used for fimo should not be used for food later
(plates, cutlery, etc.)

A little heat embossing was also used on this card, made for one
of my grandchildren over two years ago.  Just think of all the shapes
made with fimo one could use on a card.

Continue following this blog, as I have
lots of other ideas too!
Scrapbooking I will do later.

Don't like the card you made - change it!

I made this card some time ago and although I like the
actual graphic I did not like the finished card. Now
that I have more crafting materials I can design much
better.  So I took the card apart and changed it, as
you can see below.  Sometimes doing this can spoil
the card, but what is good with paper crafting is that
mistakes can always be covered up.  You should
have seen how this card looked when I removed
the layers!

Decoupage

Decoupage I like very much - whenever I go on a longish car
journey you will find me with scissors and pictures to cut out.
I have been asked how I cut whilst the car is moving, but I
cut out very well, in and out of cars!

Here is a card I made using a decoupage image from Cupcake
Crafting.

Watch this space, I have many more ideas for
card making.

Tea Bag Folding

Tea bag folding I enjoy as there are so many folds one can
make and it is fun to do.  Here is an example of one which
I did some time ago - I say that, because now I would do
it differently - did I tell you I love my Cuttlebug?!  I would
have used it on this card if I'd had it then - but I think it
is a good example anyhow.

A few months ago I gave a demonstration on card
making to a seniors group - about 20 people - and
I gave each of them a square piece of paper - larger
than what I would usually use - and I got them all
doing a paper fold. First of all though I explained
what tea bag folding is and how it came about.  I
was most surprised at the response as most of the
people were very interested and wanted to make
sure that they'd done their fold correctly.

Using the Negative Parts of a Sticker

Occasionally I use stickers for my cards and here I
want to show you how to use the negative parts -
the pieces left behind after lifting off the sticker to
be used.  This doesn't work in every case
because the pieces left don't form a recognisable
image.  No explanation is required.  Here are
two wedding cards using the same sticker, but
see how different they look.

Mini Albums

I also enjoy making mini albums and here are the
ones I have made so far.

This was made with cut up
pieces of cardboard from
a box.  I cut out the flowers
and painted them and then
glossed them just a little.
Letters also cut out.

This is the inside of
the album. It can
be used for photos
and journaling.

Step Card

Here is a step card that I made for one of my
grandchildren. It is the only one I have ever
made.  I just looked for pictures on the
internet and then stuck them onto card
before cutting them out. I think it came
out cute.

Digi Stamps

The first digi stamp I painted - using the computer -
is from Lisa Larsen's Digital Stamps.  I so enjoyed
using the stamp that I continue collecting them to use.
Lisa also designs rubber stamps.  Here is my card
using her 'Tulip' image.

Card for a challenge

I belong to a group called 'Anything But Nice' on Paper Craft Planet
and today I made a card  for their Challenge "Make An Easel Card".
This is the first such card I have made and I followed the
instructions given on the site.

More digi cards

As well as digi images I like to do decoupage and tea-bag folding
and will show some of these cards too. I have also used fimo to
make embellishments. I would love to have a large craft room
where I could put out all that I have, then I would be more
productive as I'd have everything around me. But I mustn't
complain as I have a nice large desk in my second bedroom
and a cupboard near by, but I do seem to be pulled to the salon
to work on the large table there  - but I am doing a lot of
backwards and forwards to get things.  At least I get some
exercise this way.

Here are more digi cards:

Here I wanted a simple car
and used 'Sunflower top' by
Priscilla Styles. It's a lovely
flower.
'Happy Girl Bird' by
Dawn Moore

'Flowers' from
Tiddly Inks

'Cuthberg&Kiki Wedding'
from Pollycraft

Cards I have made from digi images

This digi is called Birgitti and is the first digi stamp I bought.
I think she is very nice. What's good about digi stamps
is that you can colour them over and over in whatever
colour/pattern you wish.

This is my first posting and I have been thinking of what to write
about for a very long time and kept putting it off.  This time I
decided just to do it!  I am sure I will soon get the feel of doing
an interesting blog (hopefully).  I want to use this site for card
making and scrapbooking, and will publish photos of what I
make, and I like to think that I can give people ideas for their
crafting.  Feel free to ask questions at any time.

On this site you will also find links to the various groups I belong
to - everyone helps each other and there are so many great artists
who are willing to give out their digi stamp designs.  When I make
a card using someone's design I like to send them photos of what
I make, as this is appreciated very much by them.  When and if I
get to the stage of being able to give out freebies, it would be nice
to see what ideas people come up with.  This is something in the
making.

The first card I am adding was made with a digi stamp I won on
a blog hop, my first.I even had to write and ask what a blog hop
was!!  Anyway it was very enjoyable and I hope to take part in
more.  I didn't have to make a card, just put a comment on the
blog of each artist taking part in the blog hop. The blog hop was
held by Mami Doodles and the digi stamp I won is called
Lil' Mark Goes To School.

Hope you will like my blog and will return now and again to
visit - perhaps even leaving a comment for me.
